Drive Slow | Stop motion music video

YouTube Premiere 5pm (AEST) Sunday May 31st 2026

DRIVE SLOW is a sing-along song by musician and educator Eleanor Tucker. She wrote it to help schools and families remember to drive slowly between dusk and dawn to keep our wildlife safe. This message is very important in Eleanor’s home state of Lutruwita / Tasmania, where about 400,000 animals are hurt on the roads every year.

To bring the song to life, director Vivien Mason made a stop-motion music video featuring local landmarks and animals. The team spent over 500 hours hand-making everything you see in the film. They used fuzzy felt puppets and tiny, detailed sets to show off some of their favorite local animals, including:

- Tasmanian devils

- Wombats

- Echidnas

- Pademelons

- Brown Falcons

By watching and singing along, students can learn how we can all work together to protect our unique wildlife!

Drive Slow has been made possible with the help of Lara van Raay, Donald Bate, Friends of Tasmania Wildlife, and the 2A4 Small Grants, Bellendena Small Grants Schemes.

Further student activities on the topic of protecting animals on the road can be found here:

The student activity packs are written by qualified teacher Eleanor Tucker. If you have suggestions or requests as to what would help you in the classroom please send us an email.
